Day 1: Greater Kruger Park

Our journey commences with a departure from Johannesburg, as we set our course for the iconic Greater Kruger National Park, where our unforgettable Safari adventure unfolds.

As we traverse the picturesque Highveld farmlands, we descend the awe-inspiring Drakensberg Escarpment and enter the Lowveld, a region renowned for housing some of South Africa’s most pristine Private Game Reserves and the world-renowned Kruger National Park.

After a leisurely break, we embark on a late afternoon/evening Big Five game drive in open 4×4 vehicles within one of the neighbouring Private Reserves. Along the way, we pause for sundowner drinks at a waterhole, immersing ourselves in the enchanting sights, sounds, and scents of the African Bushveld.

Our game drive extends into the night, promising an exciting and immersive experience. Nestled within the Guernsey Private Nature Reserve and an integral part of the Greater Kruger Park ecosystem, Thornhill Safari Lodge offers comfortable accommodations in authentic thatched-roof chalets. Vibrant fabrics and locally crafted hardwood furniture contribute to a rustic yet stylish bush atmosphere.

Guests can unwind in the Bar/Lounge area or enjoy cocktails by the swimming pool and treetop viewing deck, affording sweeping vistas of the Drakensberg Mountain Range and the boundless wilderness.
