Day 1   Cape Town

Welcome to Cape Town, voted many times over as the most beautiful city in the world.

Your tour starts this evening at 6pm with a welcome meeting but why not arrive a few days before as Cape Town has amazing sights and activities that can keep you busy for days.

Why not hike up Table Mountain with its amazing views and biodiversity of fauna and flora it will leave you speechless, or take the cable car to the top if hiking is not your forte. There are many other fantastic experiences on offer in around the city.

Day 2  Western Cape

Today we make our way north from Cape Town along a beautiful coastal drive of approximately 6 hours. With the beautiful scenery though this will be an enjoyable ride.

We will overnight on a working farm and you have the opportunity to partake in optional wine tastings or simply relax at the campsite after.

Day 3  Orange River

Embark on a captivating journey to the enchanting Orange River, a stunning natural border separating South Africa and Namibia (approximately 9 hours). As you make your way, be enchanted by the picturesque Namaqualand, renowned for its vibrant wildflowers that blossom from late July to mid-September. Formerly called the Gariep River, the Orange River stretches an impressive 2200 km, standing as the longest in South Africa. Originating from the majestic Drakensberg mountain range in Lesotho, it gracefully flows into the Atlantic Ocean at Alexander Bay in South Africa. Day 4  Fish River Canyon

Begin your day with an exciting opportunity for an optional canoe adventure on the tranquil waters of the Orange River. Drift leisurely along the stream, immersing yourself in the captivating beauty of this picturesque region. As you venture further west, you’ll enter the mesmerizing desert lands of Namibia, making your way towards the awe-inspiring Fish River Canyon (approximately 4-5 hours).

Spanning an impressive 500 meters in depth and stretching over 160 kilometres in length, the Fish River Canyon stands as one of the world’s largest canyons. Regardless of the season, you’ll be presented with remarkable photographic moments, witnessing the granite rocks’ colours shift gracefully as the sun sets, painting the landscape with a breathtaking array of hues. Day 5  Sesriem

Along the way, there will be opportunities to stop at markets or shops, allowing you to stock up on essential supplies for tomorrow’s bush camp. Upon reaching your destination, take a moment to stretch your legs and soak in the captivating desert landscapes surrounding you.

You’ll find yourself in the renowned part of the Namib Desert, surrounded by vast dune fields, with the most breathtaking ones located near the Sesriem Canyon. Rest well and recharge for tomorrow’s early morning hike as you prepare to witness the splendor of dawn breaking over these remarkable dunes.

Day 6  Sossusvlei / Bush Camp

Rise before the break of dawn and make your way up the dunes for an awe-inspiring sunrise view, where you’ll be greeted by an expansive sea of sand unfolding before your eyes. As the sun gradually ascends above the horizon, witness the enchanting color changes that transform the landscape into a mesmerizing canvas. Day 10  Spitzkoppe

Embark on an exciting journey to Etosha National Park this morning (approximately 9 hours), with a chance to make a stop at a market, shop, or ATM if needed. Prepare to encounter the majestic big carnivores and the rare or endangered species that call this park home, such as the black rhino, Hartmann’s mountain zebra, black-faced impala, roan antelope, and the tiny Damara dik-dik.

Tonight, you’ll have the option to partake in an evening game drive within the park, offering a unique opportunity to witness the enchanting wildlife activity as the sun sets. Day 13  Grootfontein / San People

Day 14  Grootfontein

Embark on an extraordinary 180-kilometre round-trip to meet the fascinating San people. You’ll have the opportunity to walk alongside some members of the tribe, immersing yourself in their captivating stories and songs. Prepare to be enthralled by their unique and mesmerizing Khoisan dialect, renowned for its distinct ‘clicking’ sounds.

The San people hold a significant historical significance as the oldest ethnic group in Namibia, having called southern Africa their home for an astonishing 20,000 years. Although around 30,000 San reside in Namibia, only a select 2000 continue to embrace their traditional way of life.

During your interaction with the San, you’ll come to appreciate their profound understanding of nature and ecology, living in harmony with the environment for generations. Their rich knowledge of the land and the intricate balance within the ecosystem is awe-inspiring and enlightening.

Day 15  Bagani

We make our way to the friendly town of Bagani today, on the edge of the Caprivi strip of Namibia, bordering Botswana to the south, Angola and Zambia to the North.

There are many great hiking trails and areas to relax around the river in this area so spend some time just soaking it all in after our drive from Grootfontein.

Day 16  Okavango Delta

Cross the border into Botswana, embarking on a scenic journey south along the Okavango Panhandle, the narrowest part of the delta, until you reach Seronga. At this point, you’ll leave your vehicle behind and transition to a different mode of transport for your journey into the heart of the delta (approximately 4 hours).

Boarding boats that will lead you through the enchanting swamps, you’ll make your way to Gao Island, where you’ll meet your mokoro team and embark on a unique exploration of the Okavango Delta. Each mokoro, a small dugout canoe, accommodates two people and is deftly guided through the meandering waterways by a skilled local tribesman. As you punt along, you’ll encounter an array of avian life and lily pads, all while being serenaded by the occasional grunts of the hippos that inhabit these serene waters.

During your first night, you’ll camp on an island far from the hustle and bustle of civilization, allowing you to fully embrace the tranquillity and raw beauty of the Okavango Delta. Under the vast African sky, surrounded by the natural wonders of the delta, prepare to be captivated by an unparalleled camping experience that connects you intimately with the untamed wilderness.

Day 17  Okavango Delta

We continue your experience through the various waterways of the Delta as we make our return to Gao Island and head towards our next camp, Umvuvu Camp, which features a welcome hot (usually) shower and a small bar for a refreshing cold beer to celebrate surviving our wilderness stay in the Delta.

There is an option to take a guided nature walk today from the camp which could lead to possibly great photo opportunities of the fauna and flora of the area, or you can simply choose to relax back at camp.

Day 18  Bagani

Today we return to Bagani and there will be lots of time to relax or take up one of the many activities such as boat trips, fishing excursions or hiking one of the many trails in the area.

Bagani offers a great variety of activities, your leader will be happy to give you his recommendations so feel free to ask and have some fun out on the water.

Day 19  Chobe National Park

Today we cross back into Botswana at the Goma border as we head out on a relatively long drive of about 8 hours but your destination of Chobe National Park will be worth it.

Our camp tonight is on the outside of Chobe National Park however once we have set up camp you can take an optional, highly recommended, cruise down the Chobe River, ask your leader for more information on this river cruise.

Day 20  Chobe National Park

Start your day with an exhilarating early-morning game drive, embarking on a thrilling adventure through the park. Get ready to witness the wildlife up close, as you traverse the park in search of various creatures. Keep your eyes peeled for lions, buffaloes, and the plethora of exotic bird species that call this park their home. Chobe National Park, Botswana’s first national park, is renowned for its impressive concentration of elephants, so be on the lookout for these majestic giants. You might even catch a glimpse of them enjoying a swim in the Chobe River.

As you explore, the river’s allure will draw you in, attracting other fascinating creatures like cheetahs, hippos, and crocodiles, often seen basking in the sun along the water’s edge. In the afternoon, consider taking an optional boat cruise to gain a different perspective of these incredible animals. Day 21  Victoria Falls

Continue your journey to the majestic Victoria Falls, a short drive of approximately 3 hours, crossing the border into Zimbabwe just in time to enjoy a delightful lunch on the banks of the Zambezi River. While a visit to Victoria Falls is optional, it is highly recommended, for it is said that a trip to this destination is incomplete without witnessing the grandeur of the waterfall itself.

Prepare to be awe-struck by the staggering curtain of water, stretching approximately 1.6 kilometers and plunging 108 meters into a narrow gorge below. During the wet season, the spray from the falls can rise to incredible heights of up to 400 meters, transforming the falls into a magnificent torrent. In contrast, during the dry season, the view remains unobstructed, revealing picturesque little islets in the river below.

Sadly our tour comes to an end today. There are no activities planned for the day and you can leave the accommodation before 10 am.

We encourage all to spend more time in Victoria Falls to truly embrace all that is to offer here on land, on water and even sky with white water rafting, bungee jumping and helicopter flights over the falls only some of the activities on offer.
